So this is my first post.
Sitting at the dentist, waiting to get a teeth cleaning.
Life is exciting.
I guess I’ll start by saying that I’ve never done anything like this before. Of course, I have Facebook and Instagram like most people, but I’ve never in my life written a blog, or even considered it.
Writing topic of the day: stories.
Do you ever begin to read a story, and you become SO lost in it that you don’t know what is going on in the world around you?
I feel like that’s how life sometimes plays out. Every day is a short chapter that we become so deeply set in that we sometimes lose sight of the bigger picture around us. We become so delved within the minuscule details of the every day that our minds wander from some of the larger aspects that we should take into consideration.
It happens to me. Often. I work in customer service, so I’ll get a customer that is rude or irate and it’ll cause me to feel irritable. And instead of concentrating on something more important, I’ll allow that insignificant detail to become a focal point of my day. Some may say, “If someone is rude, be nice to them. You don’t know what they’re going through,” and while this is absolutely true, it is harder to practice than it is to preach. As often as I try to take that mantra and make it an every day practice, I still sometimes become affected by others negativity. But what if that weren’t the case? What if it were easier to stay positive and allow my mind to focus on the moral in those particular stories—kindness, compassion, patience, understanding. That would make life so much easier.
So this first post is just a reminder, to myself and to whoever reads this, that we are living a beautiful story. Every day is a different chapter, but there are strong themes throughout each of those chapters. Always try to focus on the bigger picture. 😌
